Hospital Price Transparency is an initiative by CMS that helps people know the price of services and items from hospitals before you receive them.

The project at MITRE aimed to support and advise leadership at the Center for Medicare (CM) within CMS in the implementation of the Hospital Price Transparency final rule, 45 CFR part 180.

Project Contributions

My role on the project was a staff developer to assist in the creation of software supporting the implementation as well as general technical support. Some of the things I did on my time in the project include:

• Developed the HPT online File Validator
• Maintained and updated the HPT tools website
• Data visualization and transformation for the various formats that MRFs can be in (JSON, CSV, XML)
• Collected web traffic statistics to CMS GitHub repositories and the HPT tools website
